A must do on a trip to Newquay, whether you're visiting with friends or want to introduce the kids to a rush like no other. Surf schools across all the beaches cater for a full range of abilities, whether taking you through the basics of surf safety and helping you catch that first wave, through to refresher courses for out of practice surfer dudes or perfecting your technique. All schools offer the full kit, so no excuse not to book your place and see what all the fuss is about on your next holiday.
Fistral is Newquay's most popular beach. Located to the west of Towans Head; Fistral is also Newquays largest beach noted for its fine golden sands and surfing. The west facing beach is almost a mile long - backed by steep sand dunes which provide a degree of shelter. The westerly aspect of Fistral beach creates some of the best surfing conditions in Europe, establishing Newquay as a surfing centre and many national and international competitions are held here each year. However all of Newquay’s central beaches (just a five minute walk from the town centre), including Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze and Great Western, are good for surfing and all offer surf hire.
