There's something really special about waking up to a New Year by the beach, and starting your year with sea air, embracing the elements and just taking some time out to start, literally afresh. Newquay is THE place to send your New Year, relaxing by day, eating and drinking by night. With coastlines and beaches to play on, and cool eateries and bars to chill out in, you'll find yourself lost in the beach lifestyle. So here are our tips for how to do New Year in Newquay...
Stay at Fistral Beach Hotel, their New Year parties are EPIC. Champagne towers, cocktails, casino tables, delicious food, live music and DJs. What more could you want…
Spa at Fistral Beach Hotel, well if you’re staying, we say take full advantage and pamper yourself in the Spa before getting ready to party the night away. Massage, check. Nails, check. Swim, check. Sauna, check.
Start the new year with fresh air and sea views, explore the coastal paths (grab a coffee on the way, so many good indie coffee stops in Newquay to keep you going after the night before, try The Kracken, Jam Jar or Box & Barber) a good walk and sea air will set those resolutions up right
For the brave, jump into the new year with the annual New Year’s Day Dip in the Atlantic at the harbour. No wetsuits allowed, all in the name of charity.
Storm watching… find a spot with a comfy seat, a good view and a toasty hot drink or two and simply watch the breakers roll in.
Keep the celebrations going with more drinks and more good times in one of our funky indie bars, we recommend Tom Thumb for a cocktail, Toast for wine and tapas, and the Bay Bar for awesome views and the best Gin selection in town.
Try the tastes of the sea, and visit some of the best seafood eateries around, from The Fish House at Fistral to the Boathouse in the Harbour, or fish tacos at Gilmores, the freshest, tastiest fish is always the dish of the day around here.
Get your surf on. Seasoned surfers will love the winter swells. But if your resolution is to try something new, or be more active here is your chance. Quiksilver Surf School will get you up and riding the those waves in no time, and based at The Esplanade means after warming up in the shower, you’re just a few steps away from a well-deserved hot chocolate (their hot choc menu is something else – we recommend the milky way for a proper indulgent treat).
Watch the sunset over the Atlantic. OK, so you can do this anytime you’re here (clouds permitting) but seeing the sunset on the year, and rise over the new one (if you’re up that early… unlikely) is pretty special.
Finally, before you head off… book your next visit!!!
